AI In the Content Writing Process

Since our last blog was about Google search quality rater and how to create content that follows the E.E.A.T guidelines we thought it would be appropriate to talk about how you can leverage using AI in your content writing process.

AI is not new, in fact we have been using AI to collect user data in order to understand audience segments and how consumers use the internet since 2015. Google has used AI to help rank websites based on their search relevance. Before the shift to AI to help rank it was done using a combination of algorithms and human curators called “quality raters”.

Fun Fact: “Edward Feigenbaum and Joshua Lederberg created the first “expert system” which was a form of AI programmed to replicate the thinking and decision-making abilities of human experts.” – quote taken directly from source: – tableau History of Artificial Intelligence

Fast forward to today, Google has taken that power and is now working on an AI based search engine called Magi. As we know the search engine will replace Google as we know it but there is more work to be done before we know what’s to come.

With that being said, don’t you think it’s time to get acquainted with AI in the marketing realm?

What is AI Content Marketing?

AI Content Marketing is a term that is trending in 2023. It is used to describe the inclusion of AI and machine learning programs into content tools. These content marketing tools can help with content planning, creation, distribution, analysis, and reporting.

While there has been a surge in apps that create AI generated artwork, social media content, written content and even photo editing tools; keep in mind AI can’t replace originality but we will be seeing lots of it, so why not utilize it to our benefit.

Pros

  • Fast brainstorming and outlining during periods of writer’s block.
  • Saves time & maximizes efficiency
  • High quality content in a short amount of time
  • Wider reach through AI-driven algorithms
  • Lower costs for content production

Cons

Although we will see an increase in the use of AI generated content by brands and solopreneurs to help speed up their content creation, the most effective content must have a human element to it. With this being said:

  • The content created by AI will need to be modified to speak like a human and get the message across to the human reading it.
  • Dependency on AI could lead to cookie-cutter content, plagiarized and error filled content.
  • Generalized content needs to be modified so that it is more specific to your brand and audience.

How to get the most out of it?

AI is already being used in parts or in whole at some organizations for content generation, curation and analysis but you still need people. AI as you can see from the pros and cons list will not produce perfect content as most people expect it would but AI can be a quality contributor to your content marketing team and process.

The potential AI wields is huge and will only continue to grow and your role as a content marketer is to be proactive, optimistic and realistic about the capabilities of AI. Here are some ways you can utilize AI Content software to benefit your business:
